Recently, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education announced the list of provincial key disciplines during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Nine disciplines of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NJUPT) were enlisted, making a breakthrough growth compared with the 13th Five-Year Plan period. It is another outstanding achievement in the construction of key discipline system after the major breakthrough in the layout of doctoral programs.
Key discipline project in Jiangsu Province is theimportant cornerstone of the provincial four-level discipline system. It is an important carrier for cultivating high-level talents, gathering excellent academic teams, carrying out scientific research and serving economic and social development. With great strategic significance, it not only meets the national major strategic needs, but also boosts the development of economy and society in Jiangsu Province during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
In recent years, with the goal of “NJUPT features, Chinese characteristics and world-class standards”, facing a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial reform, our university insisted on maintaining characteristics, firmly grasped the development direction of information discipline, focused on the four innovation fields of “intelligent materials”, “new devices”, “6G network” and “intelligent application”, actively connected with the national major strategic needs, and established an excellent and powerful “five-sphere integrated plan” (information materials, devices, systems, networks and applications) big information discipline system. Guided by the construction of first-class disciplines, our university consolidated and strengthened the advantages of peak disciplines, rapidly enhanced the strength of plateau disciplines and professional degrees, vigorously boosted the construction of high disciplines, and actively nurtured new growth points in accordance with the ideas of “climbing peak, lifting plateau, supporting highland, assisting new and developing leading edge”. NJUPT focused on laying out frontier interdisciplinary disciplines, carrying outdisciplines construction hierarchically and stereoscopically, and building up an innovative system of disciplines construction in an all-round way.
This time, nine disciplines of our university were enlisted as the key disciplines of Jiangsu Province, which played an important role in further improving the overall strength of the “five-sphere integrated plan huge information discipline, supporting both double first-class” and “Jiangsu province high-level university” projects.
