The year 2017 marks the 80th anniversary of the Nanjing Massacre. On April 8th, over 90 international students from NJUPT visited the Memorial of Nanjing Massacre Victims, and had a themed activity entitled “Bear history in mind, pray for peace inside”. The international students come from Russia, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh,Cambodia and some other tens of countries. The teacher and students of Overseas Education School, students’ association members attended the activity as well.
The Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre was built to commemorate the history of the Massacre, committed by the Japanese invaders on December 13th, 1937 after occupation of Nanjing. Entering into the Memorial Hall, the international students paraded ina solemn atmosphere, accompanied by Chinese teachers and students who narrated the history of Nanjing Massacre. At one of the historical sites called “the pit of ten thousand killed corpses”, where the Japanese army slaughtered thousands of people, the NJUPT international students felt deeply sympathetic andheart-ached for the great misery suffered by the victims. In front of thealtar, teachers and students laid flowers and stood in silence mourning for thevictims. Finally, they went to the Peace Square and released peace doves into the sky wishing for everlasting peace.
